Brighton Residence

With a distinctive street presence that flows flawlessly through to the interior, this unique project required us to be highly flexible, working within the limitations of the site to create a luxurious modern home.

The site itself was 1m below street level, which meant it was prone to flooding and suffered from poor soil conditions. The handover date was also brought forward by one month, which gave us a tight turnaround time. We overcame these challenges seamlessly by implementing an efficient workflow process and redesigning the on-site civil drainage and retention systems to mitigate flooding problems.

On the exterior of the home, we executed a full landscape design and construct featuring an ultra-modern concrete semi polish finish render to the external walls, as well as French patterned limestone paving in the backyard. We added timber arbours at the front and rear, and creepers to grow over them, to create a striking contrast with the concrete finish. We included screening plants along all the boundaries of the home for privacy, and Juliet balconies were incorporated within the first level windows.

We utilised high-quality materials all throughout the home. In the kitchen, we included natural marble bench-tops to the bathroom and kitchen bench-tops, as well as the kitchen splash-back. We executed impeccable craftsmanship to install the farm style joinery in the kitchen, and shaker style joinery in the bedrooms. We incorporated pine-lined feature walls throughout the first level and a high cathedral ceiling to maximise airflow. The staircase features a clean yet elegant design with a handmade steel handrail and a large, double-glazed skylight to allow natural light to stream in. Clever design choices and the high-quality materials and craftsmanship in this townhouse truly make it a highly-functional space, resulting in a forever home that can be enjoyed for decades to come.
