The Brighton project faced significant challenges due to the home’s delicate condition. With severe rising damp, a compromised roof structure, and rotted windows, the existing house was in a state of disrepair. Adding to the complexity, the clients were overseas, requiring precise communication to ensure their vision for the home was realised. The renovation also included refurbishing a 30-year-old pool and addressing a sinking front corner that impacted the façade’s alignment.

Our solution involved a meticulous approach to restore and extend the property while preserving its historic charm. We stripped the house down to its structural core, protecting the original front façade throughout the process. Thanks to our expertise in heritage homes, we were able to address past construction flaws with expert efficiency. We implemented comprehensive upgrades, including underpinning the foundation, installing new brick vents for ventilation, and enhancing insulation and energy efficiency. Weekly walkthrough videos, fortnightly Zoom calls, and monthly progress reports kept the overseas clients informed and engaged every step of the way.

The project revitalised the front façade with new Spanish Slate tiles, restored Victorian details, and a refurbished tessellated porch. Inside, we incorporated high-quality materials such as honed Carrara marble with bullnose edging, satin nickel door hardware, and engineered timber flooring. The extension features modern updates with aluminium windows, while the original parts retain timber windows and Victorian gutter cornices. This renovation sets the stage for a future-ready family home, due to its seamless blend of historical elegance with contemporary comfort.
